Tracey Marino
I’ve been writing songs and playing the piano since the age of 4. My husband Vance Marino and I each have a Pro Tools studio. We write lyrics and melodies (topline), play numerous instruments, create tracks, and produce songs mostly in the Indie Folk/Indie Folk Pop genres. Although we can perform live, we prefer to collaborate with upcoming artists. We mostly write for various production music libraries like Megatrax, Pacifica (RipTide), Ole (MusicBox), DL Music, APM (Sonoton Surefire Artist Series), as well as boutique licensing companies like Imaginary Friends, Four Jays, etc. We somewhat jokingly call ourselves the “Song Finishers” because many artists tell us they often get “stuck” when writing songs and can never seem to complete them. This is our favorite process! A big thrill for us is when an artist gives us a kernel or seed of a great idea or concept. We crack it open, plant it, water it, add some fertilizer, keep the weeds out, and watch it grow, and share in the harvest.
We’ve had hundreds of placements in film/TV, trailers, and commercials. Several of our novelty holiday songs are in print in piano instruction books and have been used in toys, animatronics, greeting cards. In 2012, we were asked to be the Coordinators for the NSAI San Diego Chapter (Nashville Songwriters Association International). This turned out to be a wonderful opportunity that has helped us give back to the songwriting community.
