Following the June 19 judging, the field will be narrowed to eight bands and eight singers which will perform in the Semifinals on Thursday, June 25. Final competition will consist of five bands and five singers performing on the Grandstand Stage Friday, July 3. The grand prize in both divisions is $25,000; second place award is $5,000; and, third place award is $2,000.
"Musicpalooza" judges include San Diego music professionals from Anthology, The Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, The Casbah San Diego, FM 94.9, Sophie 103.7 FM, SongMaker Productions, Baron Entertainment, San Diego City Beat, Sign-On San Diego, and Telemundo 33. The panel also includes industry representatives from Live Nation, William Morris Agency, Paradise Artists, Triangle Talent Agency, Harmony Artists, Strategic Artist Management and Joost.com.
The next step is to vote for "People's Choice Award" online at www.sdfair.com/musicpalooza. Music videos, photos and bios of the remaining 12 bands and 19 singers will be posted by May 15 for fans to vote for their favorites. Winners will be announced on July 3 at the Grandstand Stage. Individuals may vote for one singer and one band in the "People's Choice" competition.
