Press: Movie Trailers: A Vast Frontier For Music Licensing

Ever rush to the movie theatre early so you don't miss the previews? Trailers are it's own unique artform produced by a completely different crew of talent than the film itself and trailers have their own separate fan base, a fan base that usually wants to buy the trailer soundtrack! This industry faces many challenges in the changing landscape of media, technology, and budgets, yet there are some incredible opportunities for music placement in trailers and for promotional exposure of songs in trailers (i.e. Immediate Music's track "Orchard of Mines" which is on the Billboard Hot Singles Chart for the 9th week in a row).

Some of the topics to be discussed:

The creative and business aspects of Major or Indie song placement vs. custom scoring and library music placement

Different media rights and budgets for different trailers (theatrical, home video, mobile, internet, etc.)

Trailer soundtracks - selling the music commercially

Current issues and concerns about the industry

Changes in the way a film is marketed and how that affects music publishers
