ABOUT BARBARA CLOYD
Barbara is well known in Nashville for her dedication helping writers and was the 2008 recipient of NSAI's Maggie Cavender Award for Exception Service to the Songwriting Community. Since it began in 1986 she has been hosting the open mic at the Bluebird Cafe where she has seen newcomers like Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, Dierks Bently, and Chuck Cannon.
Respected by the industry for her ability to spot talent, she has been able to open doors for many songwriters and her introductions have led to publishing deals for writers including Anthony Smith ("Chrome"), Barry Dean ("God's Will") and Brett Jones ("Little Past Little Rock").
In 2000 she started her consultation service, Ready for the Row. Since 2002 her "Play for Publisher" workshops have helped talented writers get heard by and learn from top industry professionals. Developing writers seek her out for her detailed, specific song critiques and appreciate her knack for telling the hard truth while still being supportive and encouraging.
