Tracey and Vance Marino, a composing and songwriting team, met in 1995. One night, at a concert at the famous Belly Up Tavern in San Diego, they started talking after they realized they had been stood up by each of their dates.
It soon became obvious that they could learn from -- and work with -- each other's various musical backgrounds, and they've been composing, producing, and performing together ever since.
Tracey, a singer, keyboardist, and classically trained pianist (studied with Grammy winner Earl Wild and Composer/Conductor/Concert Pianist & Julliard grad Maestro John Garvey) is originally from Boston, Massachusetts.
Vance, a singer, bassist, and seasoned lead rock, blues, and country guitarist, is originally from Oahu, Hawaii, and studied music at Kamehameha School and Leeward College.
Last year, their song "Carnival Lights" was placed in the Disney /Touchstone Pictures film "The Last Song" by Nicholas Sparks, starring Miley Cyrus and Greg Kinnear.
In August 2009, the Marino's were signed as composers for Studio 51, which provides music for Harpo Productions, Oprah Winfrey's company.
They've had numerous placements in the "Oprah Show," "Dr. Oz Show," and the "Nate Berkus Show." They are currently scoring their first short feature film in 3D with Director Tyrell Lloyd, and Producer Dawn W. Ford, who worked with George Lucas and Stephen Spielberg.
The Marino's have had hundreds of music placements in film, TV, video games, broadcast commercials, websites, film trailers, and theatre productions. They also have four children's holiday songs in print by Piano Press.
They're regular contributing columnists for music newsletters and have been panelists or lecturers for several songwriting and composing groups in San Diego and Los Angeles.
Tracey and Vance are also judges for the San Diego County Fair's wildly popular annual "Musicpalooza" contest since its inception in 2009.
